Full, strong hair is a sign of vitality and health. However, in order for hair to grow healthily and retain its natural lustre, it needs adequate care, just like the skin. The hair roots must always be supplied with sufficient nutrients. Proteins, vitamins, minerals and trace elements are essential for hair regeneration and growth.
If the scalp hair lacks the necessary nutrients, this is often reflected in the hair structure. For people who already suffer from hair loss or thinning hair, an adequate supply is therefore particularly important.
In PRP hair root treatment or PRP hair treatment or autologous blood therapy (PRP = platelet-rich plasma), the patient's own blood is used to supply the hair roots with essential nutrients in a targeted manner.
The autologous blood treatment supports the development of the hair root and promotes hair regeneration. Thanks to the concentrated active ingredients, we can also treat hair loss in a targeted manner with PRP treatment. Autologous blood therapy is also suitable as a complementary treatment to hair transplantation.

Frequently asked questions about PRP treatment for hair loss
What should be considered before a PRP treatment?
PRP hair root treatment is a relatively uncomplicated form of therapy that does not require much preparation from you as a patient.
Only certain medications need to be temporarily discontinued before the autologous blood treatment. This applies, for example, to blood-thinning preparations such as aspirin and other painkillers or rheumatism medication. You will receive detailed instructions on preparation from your doctor on site.
What should be considered after a PRP treatment?
After PRP hair root treatment, you can go straight back to your usual everyday activities. Extensive aftercare is not required. The injections leave only minimal skin wounds that heal without visible scars.
Covering with plasters is not necessary. Immediately after the autologous blood treatment, slight swelling, redness or bruising may occasionally occur. However, such side effects usually subside quickly.
How many sessions are required for a successful PRP hair treatment?
For optimum results, we recommend repeating the PRP hair root treatment up to three times at short intervals. The treatment should also be refreshed after six months. Your doctor will decide with you in advance how many sessions are advisable for an optimal supply of nutrients.
When are results visible after a PRP treatment?
The injected nutrients begin to take effect at the hair root immediately after the treatment. However, it still takes a few months before the hair structure visibly improves. You will therefore need a little patience after the treatment. The improved hair structure can then be permanently maintained with regular refresher treatments.
What complications does the treatment entail?
PRP treatment is generally very low-risk. As a rule, autologous blood therapy does not require anaesthesia, so you do not have to accept any risks in this regard. As only the body's own active ingredients are used in the treatment, no rejection or intolerance reactions are to be expected.
In some cases, slight swelling, redness or bruising may occur after the treatment. However, these should subside quickly without any further complications. As a rule, you can leave our hair centre in Wiesbaden immediately after the treatment and are also immediately fit for work and social life again.
PRP treatment procedure
We carry out PRP hair root treatment on an outpatient basis. You can leave the hair centre on the same day and return to your normal duties. As a rule, you will not have to take time off work or socially.
The treatment itself takes about 15 to 45 minutes and begins with the collection of autologous blood. The doctor collects this from the arm vein, similar to a normal blood sample. In the next step, the autologous blood is processed in a special centrifuge. This process serves to isolate the nutrient-rich blood plasma from the other blood components. The concentrated blood plasma is then injected into the areas to be treated using fine microneedles.
The injections are hardly painful for you, so anaesthesia is generally not required. However, we are of course happy to carry out the treatment under local anaesthetic on request.
The injected active ingredients begin to take effect at the hair root after the first session. In order to achieve optimum treatment success, the autologous blood treatment should be repeated several times and topped up at regular intervals. Your doctor will discuss with you in person how many treatments are recommended in your case. During the consultation, we will provide you with detailed information about the procedure in your individual case. Contact us, we will be happy to help you!
Who is autohaemotherapy suitable for?
This procedure can be used for almost all patients.
However, in the case of diseases such as:
- Cancer
- Autoimmune diseases
- Blood clotting disorders
- etc.
, we generally advise against PRP treatment. If you are taking blood-thinning medication, this should be temporarily discontinued. You will receive detailed information on this during the preliminary consultation with your practitioner.
Advantages of PRP hair treatment
Patients with severe hair loss can visibly reduce and/or even completely stop hair loss with PRP treatment.
PRP hair root treatment is an outpatient form of therapy in which platelet-rich blood plasma is injected into the scalp. This blood plasma contains a high concentration of nutrient-rich platelets and is therefore particularly suitable for stimulating the growth and regeneration of hair roots.
A major advantage of PRP hair root treatment is that only the body's own active ingredients are used. Hair growth is stimulated in a natural and gentle way. The processed blood plasma contains a particularly high concentration of nutrients and growth factors, allowing us to treat hair loss and other hair problems specifically in the problem areas.
